Barry Nitikman brings an eclectic mix of influences to his contemporary chamber music: growing up listening to equal parts Beethoven, Dvorak, Rimsky-Korsakov and Broadway show music, which developed in him a lifelong love of melody. Then years touring the US as trumpet/musical director/arranger for major shows, decades performing and arranging jazz, Brazilian and Cuban music, as well as commercial genres such as R&B, sou and rock—and finally, his falling in love with chamber music with its infinite creative possibilities. Barry’s pieces are filled with an abundance of melodic/harmonic/rhythmic subtlety and passion that is as rewarding to perform as it is enjoyable to listen to.
